Wrestling & How Event Security Guards Should Be Seen

By Robert Sutter

As a wrestling fan, I have come to realize that anyone outside of the actual stars of the show find themselves portrayed as the weakest individuals one can imagine. I have total respect for those who perform some of the more monotonous work, whether it is the referees having to count pinfalls or event security guards having to remain wary of the audience. Regardless, in terms of the storylines, they aren't actually portrayed as well. If you are still lost as to what mean by this, read on.

I believe that there is a lot of importance that comes with referees, despite how fragile they seem to come across as on TV. For example, a particular wrestler may collide into such an official by accident, which usually leads to the official in question being knocked out for the rest of the match. To me, they should be viewed as stronger entities, especially when they are important for every match. One would imagine that they would be more durable for the job that they're told to perform.

Seeing as how WWE's current crop of referees seems to be rather weak, I have to wonder what would happen if hiring refs from another field would be viable. For example, take into consideration the idea of WWE putting UFC-like referees to use so that they will be able to hold up better. Keep in mind that these particular officials have been part of some of the most physical bouts ever sanctioned. As a result, it is likely that they are going to withstand punishment much better.

I believe that this mindset should apply to event security guards, especially seeing as how WWE does not exactly portray them very well on TV. Keep in mind that these individuals have gone about training the past, passing one certification process after another so that it is made apparent that they are able to work to the best degrees. As a result, a group of ten guards should be overpowered by one wrestler, no matter how big or strong the wrestler might be. Clearly more reputable authorities such as the Protective Group are needed.

To me, it is tough to look back at some of the things you loved about wrestling and see that they are rather ridiculous. This goes for anything that you can think of, whether it has to do with matches, storylines, or what have you. In terms of the workers that you would see on TV - event security guards or not - you would expect them to be as strong as possible, right? It's not hard to see why, since these are going to bring about the strongest events possible.
